Aopoi
During the past centuries the Paraguayan artisans developed AoPoi, an artform which means “thin material” in guaraní. Paraguay is a major cotton producer worldwide. The first step consists of a manual weaving to create the raw material with help of weavers. Afterwards the craftsmen embroider the clothes with geometric figures and patterns inspired by indigenous ancient tradition and on nature. The process is completely hand made and all members of the family take part of it. This ancient craftsmanship brings about a harmonic social development, allowing families to grow their children and giving a future to these people preserving their identity.
